FACULTY SENATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
ATTACHMENT A

Resolution on Requests for Committee/Task Force Appointments

Rationale: There has been a long-standing issue between the Faculty Senate and the Administration as to the number of names to be sent forward by the Faculty Senate for a given committee/task force appointment. The proposed resolution seeks to address the issue by quantifying the number of nominees that the Faculty Senate will submit for committee/task force appointment requests.

WHEREAS the Faculty Senate desires to designate its representative(s) on a given committee/task force; and

WHEREAS the Faculty Senate recognizes the concerns of the Administration in structuring well-balanced committees and task forces; and

WHEREAS the Faculty Senate believes there should be a distinction between appointments to standing committees and task forces as opposed to search committees;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate will forward no more than two names for each Faculty Senate representative on a search committee, but only one name for each Faculty Senate representative on a standing committee/task force.
