Resolution to Approve an RME to Change the Name of the Visual Communication
Specialization in the B.F.A. Program to that of Communication Design,
School of Art and Design, College of Liberal Arts

WHEREAS the proposed change will establish greater clarity and accuracy to the degree title; and

WHEREAS the proposed change will bring the School of Art and Design into compliance with titles recognized by its accrediting association, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD); and

WHEREAS the proposed change will more appropriately represent current program curricular requirements; and

WHEREAS this change will have no effect on existing programs, curriculums, faculty, or need for additional equipment, budget, and facilities and is supported by the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate approve and recommend to the appropriate administrative bodies this College's request to change the name of the Visual Communication specialization in its Bachelor of Fine Arts program to Communication Design, School of Art and Design, College of Liberal Arts; and that the 2003-2004 SIUC Undergraduate Catalog be edited in all instances appropriate to reflect this change, effective Summer semester, 2003.
