SIUC Faculty Senate Resolution of Acknowledgment and Representation:
The Council of Illinois University Senates

WHEREAS the Council of Illinois University Senates (CIUS) is emerging as a strong voice and statewide presence regarding faculty concerns at all public four-year institutions in the State; and

WHEREAS Southern Illinois University Carbondale is, by virtue of its public, 4-year institutional status in the state, an automatic member of this Council; and

WHEREAS the voice of this Council serves to unite faculty senate officers on each represented campus in collaboration toward increased attention to issues of utmost concern to faculty, specifically and higher education, in general;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the SIUC Faculty Senate officially accept the Constitution of The Council of Illinois University Senates, and hereby formally pledge its participation in and acknowledgment of this organization as its official voice in the public sector on all matters of state-wide concern and impact.
