Resolution to Approve the RME to Change the Name of the
Department of Civil Engineering to the Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering

WHEREAS the Department of Civil Engineering has developed an undergraduate specialization in environmental engineering; and

WHEREAS it has become the norm in colleges of engineering in the country to emphasize comparable environmental specializations in civil engineering programs like SIUC's; and

WHEREAS the College of Engineering will find it easier to recruit undergraduate and graduate students interested in this field to attend SIUC;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate endorse the change in the name of the Department of Civil Engineering to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as requested by the faculty and the College of Engineering.
