UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE
ATTACHMENT C

Resolution to Modify the Purview and Function of the
Undergraduate Teaching and Curriculum Committee

WHEREAS in May 1975 the Faculty Senate established the Undergraduate Teaching and Curriculum Committee (UTCC) to assist the Undergraduate Education Policy Committee (UEPC) with the implementation of curricular policy set by the Faculty Senate; and

WHEREAS the UTCC has increasingly focused its attention on only one activity, the selection of the University's Outstanding Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) and Undergraduate Student Government (USG) representatives on the UTCC have never been permitted to vote, even though the UTCC rarely considers curricular matters; and

WHEREAS it is inappropriate for students to be denied the opportunity to share fully in the selection of the University's Outstanding Teacher of the Year;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Faculty Senate modify the purview of the UTCC to include its principal concern, the selection of the University's Outstanding Teacher of the Year; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Faculty Senate modify the function of the UTCC by permitting the GPSC and USG representatives to vote for the University's Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
