Resolution to Eliminate the B.S. in Music Education in the
College of Education and Human Services

WHEREAS the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and Human Services (CoEHS) no longer offers instruction in Music Education; but instead advises students interested in teaching music K-12 to enroll in the School of Music's B.M. program in Music Education; and

WHEREAS the School of Music in the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) will continue to offer a specialization in Music Education in the B.M.; as recommended by the National Association of Schools of Music; and

WHEREAS the faculty concerned in both units in CoEHS and CoLA concur in the formal elimination of the B.S. in Music Education in CoEHS;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate recommend the elimination of the B.S. in Music Education in the College of Education and Human Services.
